The Instructor

Daniela Romero came to the United States from Chile in 2000, after eight years of teaching English and Spanish at a private language institute in her native Santiago, where she obtained her BA in English and a minor in Linguistics at the University of Chile.

In Philadelphia, Daniela has taught as an adjunct instructor at Drexel University, teaching Spanish undergraduate courses, as well as at a private language institute. She has also served as an English/Spanish interpreter and translator with the Lingual Institute in various legal and medical settings.

Currently she is the Education Program Coordinator in the Education Department at the Nationalities Service Center in Center City. The Center serves immigrants and refugees who have come to the greater Philadelphia area from many countries around the globe. Along with teaching English as a Second Language classes, Daniela is responsible for training approximately 160 volunteer teachers who teach over 800 international students per year.

Daniela’s love for languages and cross-cultural exchange led her to seek other forms of expression and communication in dance.  She has found her passion in tango.
