Andrés Ozzuna grew up on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, baking alongside his grandmother and dancing and singing tango with his grandfather. When Andrés immigrated to California, he found queer community centered around tango and his identity as a transgender man. Andrés regularly teaches and DJs at Abrazo Queer Tango in Berkeley, CA, and has been a featured teacher at the Paris International Queer Tango Festival and the Berlin Internatioonal Queer Tango festival. His teaching focuses on close embrace, milonguero style tango, and prioritizes connection, quality of movement, and community care.
Karen Johnson (she/her) is a queer dual role dancer and tango instructor based in Philadelphia, PA. After studying open role tango, Karen co-founded Philly Queer Tango in 2016. She is passionate about creating and supporting spaces where diverse communities can experience the joy of queer tango. She has taught queer tango across the United States, and is part of the organizing team for La Nuestra Tango in New York City. Her teaching focuses on queer centered embodiment, musicality, and developing individual tango style.
