Wonderful News! We now have a parking solution for our milongas!

We have received permission to park in the parking lot of Shissler Recreation Center (1800 Blair St.), just two blocks from the studio, starting at 8:45 pm on Wednesdays and on Milonga Qilombo Saturday. All cars must be moved by the end of each event. Check out the Google maps image that shows the entrance to the parking lot, and its proximity to the Philadelphia Argentine Tango School.

Due to activities at the Center, and the playing fields next door, the Center needs the parking spaces until 8:45 pm, so please don’t park there earlier. Each driver assumes risk for their car, just like parking on the street.

While this doesn’t help with parking during classes, there are usually still spots on the street earlier in the evening. It’s during the milongas that people have really struggled to find parking. The Shissler parking lot should make a really big difference for milonga parking.

Here is the parking advice for private lessons and group lessons:

• During the day, you can almost always find parking on Frankford Ave, or on Trenton Ave between Norris and Dauphin. map

• At night, you may need to go a little further. On weeknights, there is always parking next to the Hackett School. On two sides of the school, there is pull-in parking (as opposed to parallel), so parking is easier and more plentiful. map

• It is as safe to walk in our neighborhood at night as anywhere in the city. There are people around and it is well-lit. If you are worried about walking back to your car after the milonga or class, we will arrange for someone to walk with you.
