Octavio Fernandez

Argentine Tango
From Buenos Aires to the world

Octavio Fernandez discovered his passion for tango during his teenage years, in a family environment where tango, folklore, and rock and roll intertwined at every gathering. His tango dance training began under the guidance of renowned masters Rodolfo Dinzel and Mauricio Seifert, who laid the foundation for his career. Alongside his artistic growth, Octavio pursued a degree in Physical Education at ISEF No. 1, “Dr. Enrique Romero Brest.”

In 2007, he achieved 3rd place in the World Tango Championship (Tango de Salón), marking the beginning of his professional career. That same year, he joined the iconic show Sensaciones de Tango at Buenos Aires’ Café Tortoni. Two years later, in 2009, he became part of the prestigious Tango x2 company by Miguel Ángel Zotto, performing at the International Festival Latinoamericando in Milan, Italy.

As a dancer and teacher, Octavio is regularly invited to the world’s most prestigious tango festivals, including:
• CITA Congreso Internacional de Tango Argentino, El Yeite Tango Festival, Misterio Tango Festival (Argentina)
• Tango en Punta (Uruguay)
• Santiago Maratón (Chile)
• World Tango Championship as a jury member (Colombia)
• Spring Tango Festival, Edinburgh Tango Festival (UK)
• Tango to Istanbul, Ankara Tango Carnaval (Turkey)
• Tango Malevaje (Denmark)
• Seoul Tango Festival (South Korea)
• Catania Summer Tango Week, Napule Tango Festival, Tango to Rome, Eh Milano Tango Festival, Roma Tango Festival, Zucca Tango Festival, Rosso Tango Festival, and Apulia Tango Festival (Italy)
• A los Amigos Tango Festival (Greece)
• Lyon Tango Festival, Paris Tango Festival, Tarbes en Tango (France)
• Austin Tango Festival, Philadelphia Tango Festival, Boulder Tango Festival(USA).

In film, Octavio appeared in the Argentine movie Fermín, Glorias del Tango (2014), alongside prominent actors, and in the music video La Faccia della Luna by the Italian rock band Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti.

His passion for tango music has also led him to excel as one of the most respected DJs in the current scene. For eight years, he co-organized El Yeite Tango Club, one of Buenos Aires’ most iconic and popular milongas, as well as six editions of El Yeite Tango Festival, bringing together renowned dancers, musicians, and teachers.

In 2018, he was nominated for “Best Dancer of the Year” at the Premios Tango organized by CITA, alongside figures like Chicho Frúmboli, Javier Rodríguez, “Pancho” Martínez Pey, and Federico Naveira.

Since 2019, he has been part of the cast of Romeo & Julieta Tango, performed to great acclaim three times at the Théâtre du Gymnase and once at the legendary Folies Bergère in Paris.

Throughout his career, Octavio has shared the stage with internationally renowned dancers such as Carla Marano, Moira Castellano, Evelyn Rivera, Carolina Giannini, Tamara Bisceglia, Alejandra Gutty, Cecilia Capello, Soledad Larretapia, Carla Espinoza, Cynthia Fattori, Inés Muzzopappa, Noelia Hurtado, and Corina Herrera.

His unique style combines elegance, freshness, and profound musicality, qualities he has cultivated through countless hours of practice and dancing in Buenos Aires’ milongas. The influence of great contemporary tango masters and the essence of the old milongueros are evident in every step he takes on the dance floor.
